The Beavers managed a four point win against the Pacific Tigers. They struggled the whole game with Pacific's speed and the score was tied with 45 seconds to play in the 4th quarter. Lots of steals, lots of turnovers, led to 29 points for Pacific off fast break opportunities.
Anaya James, a 5'-9" freshman speedster scored 31 points against the Beavers and she's been averaging over 20 points for the season, so far. This is not the same team we played in Stockton last season. But, if we can hold Anaya to 15 I think we win.
I don't think I've ever seen Kelly Graves so upset as he was at the post game press conference after their loss to UC Davis. "They wanted it more than we did." "They got the 50/50 balls." "Rebounding has almost nothing to do with size. Rebounding is about who wants the ball the most?" "Sure we're down three starters - but that's absolutely no excuse. We just got out-hustled and out fought - and I didn't like it." "They play a lot like Stanford - and they're a darn good team,"
There don't seem to be any especially dangerous players. They just play hard and want to win. I just wonder how our people play after studying for a week and taking tests for a week. It'll be interesting to see.
