Hannah Jump is Something Very Special

To preview Stanford’s #2  recruiting class for 2019, we’ll start with a local phenom who flew under
the recruiting radar last year and wasn’t highly ranked nationally, but couldn’t fit into Tara’s offense any better. Each week for the next month we’ll preview one of our four fantastic incoming freshman  players. The following video link will give you a brief insight into this remarkable person.

Hannah Jump is about to graduate from a tiny high school in Los Altos Hills, California (297 students), move into Stanford this summer, and get ready to play for the Stanford women’s basketball team this fall. At 5’-11” she was Pinewood’s tallest player, but don’t let her size  or her school’s size fool you. Pinewood played in the open division of the state playoffs and lost the state championship game to the number one ranked team in the U.S., Sierra Canyon. Pinewood finished their season ranked number 18 in the nation and number 6 in California.

Their coach, Doc Scheppler, is a three point shooting guru for boys and girls from far and wide and he thinks Hannah Jump may be the finest three point shooter in high school in America. He’s been recruited widely by high schools and colleges, but likes turning tiny Pinewood into giant killers every season. The following is a video link of a typical practice and a game against powerhouse Menlo School, in which Hannah hits 7 of Pinewood’s 17 threes to win the game.

I would bet that in order to continue her efforts to  “Warriorize” her team, Tara may decide to play Hannah right away. And having her on the team will likely elevate everyone’s shooting. I can’t wait to see our team in action this coming season, especially Hannah Jump!
